FDA Approves Japan Takeda's Actoplus Met Diabetes Drug
TOKYO (AFX) - The US Food and Drug Administration has approved
for sale Takeda Pharmaceutical Co Ltd's Actoplus Met, a drug
for type 2 diabetes, Japan's largest drugmaker said.
Takeda
said in a statement it will start selling the drug in the
US from October. It did not provide any sales forecast.
Actoplus
Met combines in a single tablet Takeda's widely-used Actos
diabetes treatment and another diabetes therapy called metformin.
In the
three months to June, sales of Actos jumped 20.4 pct from
a year earlier to 55.5 bln yen, the company said.
